What is Option Modifier Override?

The Option Modifier Override specifically regulates if the "Max # Options" cap pertains to the count of unique add-ons or the overall number of portions.

  • Override OFF: "Max # Options" restricts the overall count of servings. A "Double" serving (x2) is considered as 2 of your "Maximum # Choices." For "Max # Options = 3", a customer may select one "Double" add-on along with one "Single" add-on (2+1=3), but cannot choose anything additional.

  • Override ON: "Max # Options" restricts the count of distinct add-ons. A "Double" serving (x2) is considered just 1 of your "Max # Options."

Example: With "Max # Options = 3", a client could receive three various add-ons, each as a "Double" serving. The system tallies 3 add-ons while disregarding the multipliers.

Practical Situations:

Configuration: "Pizza Toppings" category featuring Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms. Modifiers include x1, x2, x3. Maximum Number of Choices = 2

Scenario A: Disable Override

  • Customer includes: Pepperoni (x2)

  • Outcome: ✅ Order has been approved.

  • Why? "Pepperoni (x2)" utilizes the full 2 out of 2 permitted selection points.

  • What occurs if they attempt to include extra? The customer is unable to add "Mushrooms (x1)" since it would need an additional selection point, and they currently have none left.

Scenario B: Override Enabled

  • Customer includes: Pepperoni (x2) and Mushrooms (x1)

  • Outcome: ✅ Order has been approved.

  • Why? "Pepperoni (x2)" is considered 1 selection, while "Mushrooms (x1)" is also counted as 1 selection. Total equals 2.

  • What occurs if they attempt to include extra? The customer is unable to add "Sausage (x1)" as it would result in a third distinct choice, surpassing the allowed limit.

The "Override" is intended for situations where you wish to utilize portion pricing while still maintaining a stringent cap on the quantity of unique add-ons a customer can select.

It stops customers from utilizing an excessive amount of a single topping to be considered several choices.
